I'll take some of that shit for my compost pile, Sam.

Sam,

There is nothing like the harvest, from a pots on a balcony to thousands of acres of grain. I always feel complete when comes to harvest, more that any other endeavor.

Aged manure is not compost. You must learn about real compost, heated to the right temperatures to kill weeds seeds, pathogens and inoculated with good microbes. It's the good bugs that hold the nitrogen so that when it comes in contact with the eucleic acid secreted by the roots to uptake the nutrients.

I always said there are three phases of organic farming.

1. What can't I use to farm organically

2. What can I use to to farm organically

3. Understanding living soil.

When you reach level 3 you are on the threshold of real farming knowledge.

Nice job with this- I'll have to look for the magazine. I am a huge advocate for organic and locally grown produce. I just wrote a post about it on my own blog today, stop by and say hello sometime.
